Richard's Story

Richard has been exploring the art of metal bending since his fascination with metalwork was sparked whilst at Plymouth University. This is where he had a chance to experiment with different making practises and materials. Through experimentation and a process lead approach, Richard learnt to fuse modern design with traditional materials to create extraordinary pieces of modern design.

His furniture and lighting work is made with clean lines, a functional purpose and playful aesthetic. Which focuses on the materials ability to bend and fuse into beautiful and unique shapes. Enhancing his designs by combining his use of British Steel and hardwood means Richard can maintain a warm aesthetic in his work, as well as, demonstrate high-quality craftsmanship.

Richard’s first body of work is driven by the process of making a structural material beautiful. This has resulted in creating furniture and lights with a ground-breaking new look. He is not afraid to use bold colours in his work and his overall style is influenced by today's contemporary design world.
